Runway 2009

Iceland Fashion Week is a unique fashion experience held in Iceland and the surrounding islands each year.  It features Icelandic design intermixed with some of the fashion industry's best unknown talent around the world.  Held during Iceland's "Midnight Sun" in remote locations that utilize nature as a backdrop, Iceland Fashion Week also includes music and art events, as well as excursions through the country, one of the most amazing travel experiences on the planet.


Iceland Fashion Week is invite-only, with invitations going to a select group of designers, key members of the press and luminaries of the Icelandic community.  Past hosts have included the First Lady of Iceland and groups like Sigur Ros have performed in years past.


Media coverage for past shows has been impressive, including media outlets such as Vogue (U.K., Italy, Greece, France, Taiwan), Vice (U.S.), Paper (U.S.), BlackBook (U.S.), Vice (U.S.), Elle (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, U.K.), I.D.(U.K), Harper’s Bazaar (U.K), Style Network (U.S.), E! Entertainment (U.S.), City TV (Canada), Fashion TV (FR) and others, who have come to document the shows year after year.


Since its inception, the Iceland Fashion Week Executive Team have dedicated time to create a forum for designers whose interests may not lead them to the catwalks of London, New York, Paris or Milan, but whose talents are just as viable. It is their goal to make Iceland Fashion Week not only the premiere showcase for new talent, but also to encourage the freedom of artistic expression with no restrictions.
